Domestic Water Meters
The Apollo RVM
Series water meters are designed to measure the volume flow of cold potable and
service water. Low cost Long life bearings Extended flow
range Simple calibration Wet dial mechanical counter
Application
Water meters are installed by local water authorities to
bill water usage. These RVM series meters are suitable for fitting at domestic
dwellings, agricultural and horticultural premises as well as industrial and
commercial properties. They may be used for numerous applications where the
accurate and economic measurement of cold water throughput is needed.
Totaliser
The direct reading counter is located within the
pressure housing and is fitted with three dial counters which provide a
resolution of 0.0005 m3 (i.e., 0.5 litre). A five digit
mechanical counter indicates the volume passed in cubic metres. The counter
gears are located in a small chamber which protects the mechanism against any
solids contained in the water.
Principle of Operation
The RVM series is a mechanical inferential meter using
the multi-jet principle. It is fitted with an integral direct reading wet dial
counter to totalise the volume passed.
Construction
The water meter body and head are manufactured from
brass. The main bearing, roller and pinion spindles are stainless steel. The
remaining parts of the measuring element are high grade plastic. This
sub-assembly including the multi-blade fan is supported on a sapphire bearing.
All materials used within the water meter fully comply with strength and
anticorrosion requirements to give complete resistance to chemically aggressive
water supplies and continuous trouble free operation.
Calibration
All Apollo RVM series water meters are individually
calibrated. They may be easily recalibrated by means of a by-pass screw which
is accessible from outside of the meter. A security seal is
fitted.
Installation
Apollo water meters are suitable for installation in
horizontal pipelines and should be fitted such that the arrow marked on the
body corresponds with the direction of water flow. The water meters should be
easily accessible to enable a clear reading from the counter. The upstream
pipework should be rising such that the outlet should always be higher than the
meter inlet.
Options
There is a range of equipment for use with the S series
flowmeters. These include air eliminators, check valves, filters and
counters.
